The championship moment for Mr. Bloom

“A team is similar to a family. A united family is a winning team.”

The game had been going on for ninety minutes, and the scoreboard had not changed. There was not a single player on the field who could change the scoreboard. After ninety minutes of a dueling match and another thirty minutes of overtime, there were no goals scored by either team. Our coach had predicted it would come to penalty kicks, but I did not think so because our practices and our mindset showed we would pull it off at the regular time.

Off-season
During the off-season, our management had spent most of the time, ensuring that we fill gaps in our roster. The administration drafted two top players to fill in gaps, and management also recruited top trainers. They upgraded the training facilities with newer equipment and added a wade pool and two more free weight stations. Our coach also hired two trainers with a specialty in soccer. They considered these doctors the best in the business, and they approached treating players with different and modern techniques using robotics and sophisticated training techniques. Management also changed the food company and hired one of the best restaurateurs in the country. This group had a reputation for preparing nutritious meals for athletes.
The founders of this business are all registered dietitians who knew how to make high-quality, nutritious meals. Their food was tasty and nutritious at the same time.
There were no changes to the coaching staff. I valued these coaches, and they knew the game and were in high demand by other clubs. Other teams had approached our head coach and even offered him more money to leave. His dedication to the club was evident, and he wanted to win a championship with his current club before making any move.
Our head coach also had some of the best assistant coaches, and these coaches showed their loyalty by being with this coach for over twenty years. Whenever this coach switched jobs, his assistants followed him. The off-season had been one to remember as our management did everything to get us as a franchise ready for the season. We were very confident, we will have another good year, and our vision was to bring home the championship and bring joy to our loyal fans.
One of those fans is Mr. Ernie Bloom, who has been a season ticket holder for over fifty years and has come to every game. In his nineties, he still comes to the games. He was always very supportive and cheerers the team regardless of the score. Win or lose, Mr. Bloom was there supporting us. Won’t it be a miracle to win a championship for Mr. Bloom on his 95th birthday?
What a way to reward a loyal fan who has been there since franchise inception.

The spirit of winning is not about an individual; it is about the team.
A team is like a family and Siya introduces us to her family in her first book, "The Siyabonga Story."
